Dean's Message

Welcome to Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University’s web site.
You can be assured that when I say Mennonite College of Nursing and Illinois State University are entities of excellence, it is true. As a graduate of both Mennonite College of Nursing and Illinois State University, I speak from real experience. If you are considering Mennonite College of Nursing as part of your future, please know that the student experience is outstanding.

Mennonite College of Nursing has a long standing tradition of providing individualized attention to students. Illinois State University is celebrating 150 years of educational excellence and Mennonite College of Nursing is honored to be an integral part of the University. This is where tradition holds strong, but with innovation welcomed.
Mennonite College of Nursing has continued to grow into a college known for its focus and expertise on care of older adults. Nursing students have the opportunity to participate in a Teaching Nursing Home project, that is one of the few in the nation. With rapidly growing numbers of older adults, it is imperative that nurses are prepared to provide best practices in care of this population. The aging focus extends from the BSN Prelicensure Program to the collaborative PhD Program in Aging.

Undergraduate students in the nursing program will experience individualized attention and have the opportunity to plan for a professional nursing career in a wide variety of areas.  Mennonite College of Nursing has a unique Success Plan, designed to optimally prepare students to take the NCLEX exam. Our students NCLEX pass rates continue to exceed state and national pass rates.

Registered nurses who aspire to advance in their career can apply for the RN/BSN sequence which accommodates working nurses, through its complete online format. The online format allows for individualized attention between students and faculty.
Graduate students experience individualized attention that facilitates development of expertise in areas such as aging, clinical practice, nursing education, nursing administration, and research.

As a faculty member, you will experience collaborative, collegial relationships with other faculty, an emphasis on innovative teaching and clinical practice, development of research trajectories, and creative service initiatives.

Whether you are a nursing student, faculty, or staff, Mennonite College of Nursing is an exciting place to be!
