Admission Information

Applicants to the doctor of philosophy program of study must have:

  1. A Master of Science in Nursing from a CCNE or NLN-accredited program.
  2. A minimum grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the last 30 hours of graduate course work.

Admission Deadline

Applications will be accepted through April 1, 2008 and students will begin classes in the summer 2008 semester. Materials received after these deadlines will be considered on a space-available basis.

Application Process

STEP 1: APPLY TO ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY GRADUATE SCHOOL

Documents Submitted to ISU Graduate School:

  • ISU Graduate School Online Application for Admission
  • One official transcript from each college or university attended at the undergraduate and graduate level
  • Official scores from the Graduate Record Examinations General Test. The GRE is waived for students with a grade-point average of 3.4 or higher on a 4.0 scale in the last 30 hours of graduate course work.

STEP 2: SUBMIT SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS FOR REVIEW BY MENNONITE COLLEGE OF NURSING

Documents Submitted Directly to Mennonite College of Nursing:

  • Supplemental Information for Admission Form
  • Reference Form: Three (3) letters of reference from persons qualified to assess your potential to succeed in the doctoral program. One reference MUST be from a doctorally prepared nurse.
  • Curriculum Vitae Form
  • Essay outlining your research interests and career goals
  • Evidence of licensure as a registered nurse in Illinois (not required until after student has been accepted)
