Mennonite College of Nursing is a great place to take the next step in your career as a nurse researcher, educator, and clinician. We appreciate your talents and look forward to reviewing your application to the PhD program.
Whether you plan to attend school as a full time or part time student, we know that taking on the additional responsibilities of a doctoral student will be stressful. One area that may be particularly challenging is managing your financial situation while you attend school. MCN is making a concerted effort to provide substantial financial support for doctoral students. to discuss your options.
The Office of Research and Scholarly Activities staff and faculty advisors will work closely with students to identify and apply for fellowships. Examples of fellowship opportunities include:
Mennonite College of Nursing will award one Teaching Fellowship for $34,000.00 with tuition waiver each academic year. The teaching fellowship provides students with the opportunity to further develop teaching competency in graduate and undergraduate nursing education. The fellow will work with an experienced and recognized teaching expert to design a plan that will include appropriate training and classroom/clinical teaching experience under the direction of qualified nurse educators. Fellows will be expected to carry a teaching assignment commensurate with their qualifications and to promote their personal development as an educator (see guidelines here).
Graduate Assistantships (Research and/or Teaching Assistantships) may be available through Mennonite College of Nursing on a yearly basis. Part-time and full-time assistantships are available. These assistantships include tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. Click here to learn more about graduate assistantships at Illinois State University.
Federal funds may be available to cover tuition and fees for students accepted into the PhD program. Administrators will meet with eligible students and their employer to discuss this opportunity.
Students may be eligible for these federal or state loan plans that are typically associated with service rendered after completion of the degree in return for partial forgiveness of the loan.
