Student Benchmarks

Benchmarks are standards by which a student's performance and progress in the PhD program are evaluated. The benchmarks apply to full-time and part-time students. One year of full-time study equals eighteen semester hours.

Students are to work closely with their faculty advisor to ensure they are meeting the benchmarks in a timely manner. Faculty advisors can use discretion when determining student progression on achieving benchmarks. Student progression on benchmarks will be reviewed on a annual basis.

The benchmarks are intended to prepare PhD students in the areas of expertise required of nursing scholars. Therefore, benchmarks are identified in the following three areas: Education, Research and Service.
