Transferring to Illinois State

Prelicensure and RN-BSN Sequences

The Mennonite College of Nursing Prelicensure Program only accepts students for fall admission. There is no spring admission into this program. Mennonite College of Nursing Prelicensure applications are accepted beginning September 1 for admission consideration the following fall. Applications received prior to January 15 for admission consideration the following fall will receive preferential admission review.

Students applying for the Prelicensure Sequence and RN-BSN Sequence at Mennonite College of Nursing must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for admission applicants must:

  • Complete both an Illinois State University admission application and a Mennonite College of Nursing Prelicensure Application or a Mennonite College of Nursing RN to BSN Application. Students may submit an application to Illinois State within one year of anticipated arrival on campus (i.e. students transferring to Illinois State in the Fall of 2006, may fill out an application for Illinois State University beginning September 1, 2005).
  • Apply to Illinois State as early as possible to expedite the review of transcripts necessary for acceptance into the Nursing Program.
  • Ensure transcripts are received and processed by January 15.
  • Submit one letter of recommendation from a current employer (RN-BSN students only).

Transferabilty of Coursework

When requesting information about how a Mennonite College of Nursing prerequisite course will transfer to Illinois State, students may contact their assigned community college/ Illinois State advisor or the Illinois State University Evaluations Office (309) 438-2188. Applicants may also contact an academic advisor at Mennonite College of Nursing at (309) 438-2252. Transferability worksheets for specific colleges are also available to assist students with transferability questions.

If a Mennonite College of Nursing prerequisite course transfers into Illinois State University as an "elective" or any other course number than that which is listed in the Admission Requirements section, students must complete a transferability form and send a copy of the course syllabi to the Admissions Secretary at Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University, Campus Box 5810, Normal, IL 61790-5810. All information received will be reviewed by the Undergraduate Program Director, Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University. Transferability forms are available by calling (309) 438-7400.

If a student is taking a nursing course at another bachelor-level nursing college and plans to transfer into the Mennonite College of Nursing RN/BSN Program, the student should send a copy of the nursing course syllabi for review to the Undergraduate Program Director at the previously listed address.

The following list is intended to assist applicants in finding courses that work for IAI requirements and is intended for TRANSFER STUDENTS who did not complete an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science Degree. Please note that most associate degrees in nursing are in the Applied Science area, resulting in some general education/ IAI course deficiencies. By accessing this site, students can determine how a course they are interested in taking at one of these colleges transfers into Illinois State.
