RN/BSN Sequence
Students applying for the RN/BSN Sequence at Mennonite College of Nursing must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for admission. A student must:
- Submit both an Illinois State University application AND a Mennonite College of Nursing RN application approximately one year prior to anticipated acceptance into the RN/BSN Program.
- Be a graduate from a state-approved diploma school of nursing or an associate degree nursing sequence
- Have a minimum CUMULATIVE* GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale
- Be licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Illinois
- Have completed (at the time of admission and not at the time of application) the Illinois Transferable General Education Program (with some exceptions) and the Mennonite College of Nursing prerequisite courses with a minimum of 59 total credit hours earned
OR Have earned an Associates Degree in Arts or Science with all Mennonite College of Nursing prerequisite courses completed
- Have earned an Associates Degree in Arts or Science with all Mennonite College of Nursing prerequisite courses completed
- Obtain a "C" or better in each of the Mennonite College of Nursing prerequisite courses to include Chemistry CHE 110/112 or 140, Statistics ECO/GEO/POS/PSY 138 or MQM 100 or Math 150, General Psychology PSY 110, Lifespan Development PSY 213, Microbiology BSC 160, Anatomy and Physiology I BSC 181, Anatomy and Physiology II BSC 182, and Nutrition FCS 102.
- Submit one letter of recommendation from a current employer (if not employed, may be from a recent college instructor or academic advisor).
The RN to BSN Sequence for current registered nurses includes FALL ONLY Admissions.
Students are also encouraged to complete a global studies course prior to beginning the Nursing Program. See "graduation requirements" in the Illinois State catalogue for specific information relating to this global studies requirement.
All courses completed in the RN/BSN sequence at Mennonite College of Nursing are on-line. Students may be expected to come to campus for an orientation, possibly for final exams, or at the special request of the instructor.
*Cumulative refers to combined GPAs obtained from each college or university that the student has attended.
